Satanic leaftail gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus) on a log. Leaftail geckos are endemic to Madagascar and some of its surrounding islands. They are nocturnal and arboreal, spending most of their time during the day sleeping head-down amongst plant growth and trees. The satanic leaftail is one of only two species of leaftail gecko whose body has developed to resemble leaves,as a form of camouflage. Most actually resemble bark. Photographed in Madagascar | |
