Marsoulas cave painting replica. This is a replica of one of the prehistoric cave paintings in the 'Great Hall of the Buffalo',discovered in the Marsoulas cave in the French Pyrenees. The paintings date from around 12,000 years ago,at the time of the early modern human Magdalenian culture. Animals depicted here include bison, ibexes, deer and horses. The cave has been closed to the public to prevent damage, and these replicas,by the artists Gilles Tosello and Alain Dalis, are displayed in the prehistoric visitors centre in Tarascon-sur-Ariege | |
