Crowned lemur (Eulemur coronatus) male in a tree. This lemur is found in northern Madagascar. It feeds mainly on fruit and leaves, but will also occasionally take small vertebrates and bird's eggs. This lemur lives in matriarchal groups. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed in Madagascar | |
