| Allegory of luck. 16th-century artwork,with Latin labels,representing luck or fortune (Fortuna) in the form of a wheel of fortune. A female figure at centre holds vessels in her hands,one spilling liquid. Four male figures are spinning on the wheel. This woodcut is from 'Margarita philosophica' (1503). This work,by the German author Georg Reisch (c.1467-1525),was an encyclopedic compilation of knowledge that became one of the standard textbooks of the time.
