Crested barbet (Trachyphonus vaillantii) on the ground. This omnivorous bird inhabits gardens and woodland thickets. It is a territorial bird and perches in trees uttering a loud unmusical trill. It is a solitary ground-foraging bird,feeding on insects if fruit are unavailable and also on snails by smashing them open against rocks. The crested barbet is found in southern Africa.
