Joseph Bruce Ismay (1862-1937),managing director of the White Star Line,walking to the inquest on the sinking of the Titanic,a White Star Line ship. RMS Titanic was the largest ocean liner ever built at the time,and was reputed to be unsinkable. However,during its maiden voyage it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of 14 April 1912 and sank with the loss of 1517 lives. Ismay was on board at the time.
