Cinnamon plant. 16th-century artwork of a cinnamon plant (Cassia monspelii) with its flowers and leaves. Monspelli is Latin for Montpellier,France. The bark of cinnamon is used as a spice,and in the 16th century it was extensively traded between Europe and South-East Asia.
