Guided busway wheel mechanism. Bus entering a guided section of its route. One of the horizontal guide wheels (centre right) is just starting to make contact with the metal kerbs. This gradual contact allows buses to enter and leave the guided sections without excessive slowing. This kerb-guidance system controls the steering of the bus while it is in the guided sections. This bus is operating on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway (CGB),built from 2007 and opened in August 2011. Photographed near Histon,UK,in September 2011 | |
