Silver extraction. Silver froth produced during froth flotation, one stage of the process to extract silver from its ore. Froth flotation is used to separate the metal ore from the unwanted material (gangue) associated with it. The ore is powdered and mixed with water and oil before being vigorously stirred and frothed with compressed air. The resultant air bubbles cling to the ore particles and sit at the surface of the tank as a froth, which can be skimmed off, leaving the gangue behind | |
