Milky Way over Paranal,Chile. This is the night sky above the European Southern Observatory (ESO) facilities at Cerro Paranal,Chile. Bands of dust and glowing nebulae are seen along the band of billions of stars that is our Milky Way galaxy seen from the inside. The Paranal Observatory has some of the world's most advanced telescopes,including the VLT (Very Large Telescope),the VISTA (Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy) and the VST (VLT Survey Telescope). On the ground,vehicle lights and a flashlight are seen. At lower right is the glass dome of the Observatory's Residencia,where staff and visitors stay.<br>Restrictions:
