Francis Galton (16th February 1822 - 17th January 1911),investigator into human variation and biometry. Half cousin of Charles Darwin. Pioneer of the Eugenics movement. Galton's achievements included investigations into 'nature versus nurture' inheritance (see 'Hereditary Genius' 1869) as well as pioneering the use of finger print identification,questionnaires,surveys and statistical analysis in human research. His conclusions of genetic superiority for Nordic and Anglo Saxon peoples is now discredited.
