Aristotle (384 BCE - 322 BCE),Athenian philosopher and logician. Aristotle was born to the court physician at Macedon. Orphaned in early life,Aristotle went to Athens to study under Plato before returning to Macedon in 342BC. There he tutored the king's son (later Alexander the Great). He became a public teacher, using his garden (the Lyceum) for his lessons. He was a famous teacher of logic and ethics, and added much to the knowledge of zoology and anatomy. He was a first-class naturalist and marine biologist, although his teachings of physics and cosmology were eventually outdated. Today he is best known as a founder of logic.
