Cleopatra's Needle,Alexandria,Egypt. This famous obelisk was named for Cleopatra, one of the female pharaohs of Egypt, and its last ruler before its conquest by Rome. There were three such obelisks, all raised thousands of years before Cleopatra's time. Two of these obelisks were moved to Alexandria, with one being transported later to London, and the other to New York. The third was moved from Luxor to Paris | |
