Kangaroo. Engraved plate showing a kangaroo standing on some rocks. The name kangaroo derives from the local Aboriginal language of the area around the Endeavour River where they were first seen by Western explorers. The local name,gangurru,refers to the Eastern Grey Kangaroo,Macropus gigantus.
