Treating haematoma after blunt injury

| Gloved hands apply intrasite gel to a bruise (haematoma or bleeding) on the shin in an 81 year old female patient after a blunt injury. This patient has heart disease (atrial fibrillation) and is on warfarin,an anticoagulant drug which prevents clotting. Due to this drug the bleeding has been exacerbated. The gel is a polymer that absorbs exudate but keeps the area moist for a sterile dressing. (see images before and after) | |
