Gusev Crater,Mars. Coloured satellite image of the surface of Gusev Crater on Mars. This crater measures 170 kilometres across and its floor is covered in numerous smaller craters. It was formed by an asteroid impact between 3.5 and 4 billion years ago. Gusev Crater was the landing site for the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit in January 2004.
