Umbrella fitted with lightning conductor,designed by Jacques Barbeu-Dubourg. He was a French physician,writer,translator and publisher and was a member of the Royal Society of Medicine in Paris,the Medical Society of London and the American Philosophical Society of Philadelphia. In 1762 he published some of Franklin's early experiments in his medical journal - Gazette d'Epidaure. He was a keen disciple of Benjamin Franklin with whom he corresponded. In 1773 he translated Franklin's collected "Observations and Experiments" into French,which he published.He advocated Franco-American co-operation including financial and military aid for the American Revolution | |
