George Bowdler Buckton (1818-1905),British entomologist. Buckton was born in London and privately educated after a boyhood accident left him crippled. He entered the Royal College of Chemistry in 1847,publishing several papers on his researches. In 1865 he married,and following a move out of London he turned his researches to entomology. His most important work was conducted on the Homoptera,especially the aphids. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1852,and was also a member of the Entomological and Linnean Societies | |
