Devil scorpionfish (Inimicus didactylus) camouflaged on the seabed. This fish is found in the Indo-west Pacific. It lays in wait on the seabed until its prey,a small fish,is close enough to be engulfed with a sudden leap. Its dorsal fin contains spines linked to venom glands, which protects it from predators. The sting is extremely painful, but rarely fatal to humans. Photographed off Kapalai,Sabah,Malaysia | |
