Urania's Mirror booklet, title page. Published in 1884 by J. Aspin, this booklet, titled Familiar Treatise, accompanied a 19th century astronomical teaching aid called Urania's Mirror. This consisted of cards that are pierced with holes showing the brightest stars so the pattern of the constellations can be seen when held up to the light. The cards were published in London,England, and it is thought they originally dated from around 1825. For an example of a card, see V700/200 | |
