Repaired ISS solar array. This solar array was damaged while it was being deployed during one of the space shuttle missions to construct the International Space Station (ISS). The deployment (which was about 80 percent complete) was halted to evaluate the damage, and a spacewalk was carried out to repair it. Solar arrays convert the energy of sunlight into electrical energy for the ISS. Photographed on 3 November 2007,during mission STS-120 | |
