Tufted pincushion (Leucospermum oleifolium). Each inflorescence of the tufted pincushion plant measures about 4 centimetres in diameter. There may be up to five such flowerheads at the end of a branch. The flowers produce copious amounts of nectar, which attracts birds and insects to pollinate the plant. L. oleifolium is native to the southwestern cape region of South Africa. Photographed in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in South Africa | |
