Comfrey flower. The common comfrey (Symphytum officinale) has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb. The crushed leaves are warmed and used locally as a remedy on sprains,bruises and inflammation. It is also used to promote the healing of boils and ulcers. Drinking small amounts of a decoction of comfrey is helpful in relieving diarrhoea. Hot drinks made from the roots and leaves are used as demulcents,lining the throat and easing the pain of coughs and sore throats.
