Succulent plant (Euphorbia sp.). This plant is adapted for survival in arid areas. It has spikes, which are modified leaves, and a waxy surface to minimise water loss. It also has a swollen stem that stores water. All Euphorbia plants contain a milky, latex sap that is a skin irritant and poisonous when ingested. Photographed in Mkhuzi,South Africa | |
