Coconut palm. Coconut palm,Cocos nucifera,bearing fruit (coconuts). Coconut palms grow around the world in tropical regions. The palm has a single trunk which is up to 30 metres tall and is capped by a crown of leaves which are up to 3 metres long. The palm's fruit grow in clusters of 10-20 nuts. The inner lining of the coconuts can be eaten or used to make oils. Various other parts of the tree are also edible. The leaves can be used to make thatched roofs,mats and baskets.
