Orchid flower (Cadetia collina). This orchid produces a single white flower. The three sepals are seen (equal sizes),and the two pointed petals curling off from the centre. The pink/white petal at centre is the lip,a specialised petal that attracts pollinators to the flower and acts as a landing platform. Cadetia orchids are mostly found in New Guinea. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers | |
