Moraxella is a Gram-negative cocci bacteria,species of which inhabit the mouth and throat,skin and genito-urinary tracts of humans. M. catarrhalis is one of the bacteria responsible for catarrh: the excessive secretion of phlegm or mucous by the nose,sinuses or air passages.
