Potassium reacting with chlorine gas in a gas jar. Potassium (K) is a soft,silvery-white,alkali metal that occurs naturally,bound to other elements in seawater and many minerals. Potassium reacts violently with all the halogen gases - fluorine (F2),chlorine (Cl2),bromine (Br2) and iodine (I2) - to form solid potassium halide salts. Here potassium is reacting with chlorine gas (yellow/green) to produce solid potassium chloride (KCl)
