Condensation in a cooling tower at a pharmaceutical plant in Mexico. Steam is introduced at the base of the tower, where it rises naturally. As it does so,it starts to condense as it cools. Fine water droplets then coalesce, forming larger droplets. Eventually, the droplets are too large to continue to rise, and so fall into the collection pond below. Some water also condenses on the sides of the tower, running down to the pond in that way. The water may then be pumped back into the cooling system again | |
