Water droplet impact. High speed photograph of a droplet which has impacted upon a still pool of water, causing secondary drop formation. Spreading outwards are concentric circles of ripples or waves. After cratering, the surface at the site of impact collapses with the inward-rushing water colliding and rising to form a column. Along the column, water surface tension effects create secondary drops,as seen here | |
