LEAR accelerator. View of the Low-Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN,the European particle physics lab near Geneva. LEAR is used to accelerate antiprotons to relatively low energies,around 6 million electron volts (MeV). The low energy allows the accelerator to have four straight 'sides' and sharply-curved corners,giving good access for experiments and support equipment.
