California southern sea otter (Enhydra lutris), lies on its back as it floats along in the waters of Morro Bay, California, USA. Sea otters, unlike most other marine mammals, have no blubber and keep warm through their dense fur which needs to be kept clean. Once hunted to near extinction, sea otters are making a comeback throughout the Pacific. | |
