Cloud of mist rising from the base of the American Falls and the Niagara River in Niagara Falls, New York, USA, as record low temperatures cause portions of the 30-metre-high falls to freeze over. The American Falls is one of three falls collectively known as Niagara Falls. The falls were created during the Wisconsin glaciation about 10, 000 years ago by forces that also created the Great Lakes and the Niagara River. The Niagara River is 58 kilometres in length and connects Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, two of the Great Lakes. It s rapid flow makes it one of the best sources of hydroelectric power in the North America. Filmed in February 2015. | |
