Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission. Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) descended the ladder on the Lunar Module at 02:56 UTC on 21st July 1969. As he stepped onto the surface he declared, That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind"". This film shows his next activities, as he unhooks a tether and steps back out onto the surface to lower down equipment. His PLSS backpack and pressure suit and gold visor are clearly visible.
