Real time then high-speed footage of a lightning strike at night, producing thunder several seconds later. Sound travels at around 340 metres per second, with light essentially instantaneous, so every three seconds between flash and sound indicates a distance of roughly one kilometre. The last part of the clip is slowed down, and shows a massive strike. Filmed in South Dakota, USA, in summer. | |
