New Horizons enhanced colour view of the dwarf planet Pluto. Pluto's surface exhibits an unexpected range of colours, which hint at complex geological and climatological processes. Parts of the surface appear featureless, suggesting that they are the sights of ongoing geological processes. New Horizons has spent nine and a half years travelling the nearly five billion kilometres to Pluto. Data obtained by the spacecraft's Ralph/Multispectral Visual Imaging Camera (MVIC) on 14th July 2015. | |
