Resorcinol crystal growth, polarised light micrograph. Resorcinol is melted (melting temperature 110 C) between microscope slide and cover glass, the re-crystallization captured under the microscope with crossed polarizers. Resorcinol is the common name for 1, 3-dihydroxy- benzene. It is used in industry in the production of dyes. It is also used in skin preparations for the treatment of acne and other skin disorders.
