Apparatus used for measuring the refraction of a ray of light passing between water and air. Refraction is a property of light that alters the path of the light when it passes between materials in which light travels at a different speed. The speed of light in water is about 1.33 times slower than it is in air, and when a light ray hits a water-air interface at an angle, the change in speed changes the angle of the ray. This equipment comprises a light source, a water bath and a graduated turntable, for measuring the effect. | |
