Solubility of glucose, a monosaccharide carbohydrate with the molecular formula, C6H12O6. At room temperature, glucose is a colourless crystalline solid. There are many polar -OH (hydroxyl) groups within the molecular structure of glucose, and these polar groups readily form hydrogen bonds with polar water molecules. These forces attract the water and glucose molecules together, making glucose very soluble in water. | |
