Rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri) eating carambola fruit (Averrhoa carambola oxalidaceae). Carambola, or kamrakh in Hindi, is also referred to as star fruit. Rose-ringed parakeets also feed on buds, vegetables, nuts, berries and seeds. Although native to India and parts of sub-Saharan Africa, this parakeet has escaped from captivity and established feral populations in several cities across the world, including cities as far north as London and Amsterdam. Filmed in Dudhwa National Park, Uttar Pradesh, India. | |
