Phagocytosis, animation. Phagocytosis is the ingestion of large particles such as bacteria and cell debris via large endocytic vessels called phagosomes. In this animation a bacterial cell binds to specific receptors (yellow) on the cell surface. It is then enclosed within a phagosome. This phagosome then fuses with a lysosome where the bacterial cell is broken down. | |
