Kelp forest. Giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) is the largest algae on Earth. It is common on the rocky coasts of the eastern Pacific Ocean, where it forms dense forests that form a habitat for many animals. An individual strand of kelp can grow to more than 45 metres in length, and can grow more than 50 centimetres in one day. Filmed in the USA. | |
