Whirligig beetles (Dineutus americanus), belonging to the Gyrinidae family, attack walkingstick nymph that has fallen into the water. These scavengers are usually in constant motion searching out prey items. When alarmed, they will dive beneath the water's surface. The specimens featured here measure about 15 mm in length. | |
