High-speed footage of a chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) taking off from a tree. The chaffinch is a common bird throughout Europe. It feeds mainly on seeds, although it also takes insects. It can reach a length of around 15 centimetres. It exhibits marked sexual dimorphism - this bird is a male; the female is drabber, and has shades of brown instead of the distinctive red underparts and slate grey cap of the male. Filmed in France. | |
