Experiment showing the weight of air. An airtight vessel filled with air at normal pressure is on an electronic scale, which shows the equipment weighs 411.86 grams. Air is then pumped out of the vessel, as shown by the pressure gauge dropping to 325 hectopascals, around a third of its normal value (1013.25 hPa). The scale is then seen to read 410.89 grams, meaning nearly a gram of air has been removed. When the valve is opened air rushes back into the vessel, and the scale shows the weight increasing back to its initial value. | |
