Angiography video of venography (phlebology) procedure in a 50-year-old patient with varicose veins. An xray of the veins (venogram) is taken after a special dye is injected into the bone marrow or veins. The dye is injected via a catheter, normally this is entered in the groin. Venography is used to diagnose blood clots and deep vein thrombosis. This sequence shows varicose veins requiring treatment by embolization (restricting blood flow to the affected area). Angiography is an imaging technique in which a radio-opaque contrast medium is injected into blood vessels to allow them to be seen on an X-ray. | |
