Pan across an infrared-wavelength view of the spiral galaxy M83. IR wavelengths can pass through dust, allowing a more detailed study of the matter in the galaxy. M83 has a diameter of some 40, 000 light years, making it roughly 2.5 times smaller than our Milky Way galaxy. It lies around 15 million light years from Earth in the constellation Hydra.<br>Restrictions: | |
