Zoom into the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), starting with a wide view of the Milky Way, before closing on the two Magellanic Clouds, small satellite galaxies of the Milky Way, and then focussing on the Large Magellanic Cloud. The LMC is some 160, 000 light years from Earth. It has a diameter of around 14, 000 light years, and is roughly a tenth of the mass of the Milky Way. The LMC is visible as a faint patch of light in the night sky of the southern hemisphere, straddling the border between the constellations Dorado and Mensa.<br>Restrictions: | |
