Pan over the interacting galaxies Arp 226 (NGC 7252, or the Atoms for Peace galaxy). This unusual object is the result of a collision between two galaxies, a process that started around a billion years ago. Their gravitational interaction has led to the formation of huge streamers of stars and other material. Arp 226 lies around 220 million light years from Earth in the constellation Aquarius.<br>Restrictions: | |
