Animation of the view of the Sun from the trans-Neptunian object Sedna. Sedna was discovered in 2003, and is one of the most distant bodies ever found in the Solar System. It has an extremely elliptical orbit - at its closest it is 75 times as far from the Sun as Earth is (one astronomical unit, or AU), while at its most distant it is around 960AU away. It is thought to take around 12, 000 to complete one orbit of the Sun.<br>Restrictions: | |
